RENO, Nev. – The Reno Aces (4-14, 41-52) were bested by the Tacoma Rainiers (12-6, 50-43), the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, dropping five of six games this past week at Greater Nevada Field.

Reno’s lone win came in shutout fashion Thursday night, led by a dominant outing from Dylan Ray. The right-hander delivered his best performance in an Aces uniform, holding Tacoma to just two hits and three walks across six scoreless innings while striking out four. Arizona’s No. 20 overall prospect (per MLB Pipeline) lowered his ERA to 6.81 with the effort and now has 29 strikeouts in 35 2/3 innings over seven Triple-A starts since his early June promotion. Aramis Garcia added support with his 11th homer of the season, a two-run blast in the fourth inning that proved to be the difference. The win marked Reno’s first shutout of the season and snapped a losing streak.

Unfortunately, that would be their only victory of the week.

Tacoma held the upper hand on the mound, posting a 5.50 team ERA compared to Reno’s concerning 8.84. The Aces’ bats, however, showed life, slashing .310/.363/.544 with 10 home runs and 34 RBI, while the Rainiers hit .284/.401/.450 with five home runs—but racked up a staggering 52 RBI.

Adrian Del Castillo had a strong showing, going 7-for-26 (.280) with four doubles, two home runs, and eight RBI. The reigning Pacific Coast League MVP capped off the series with one of Reno’s top offensive performances of the season, collecting four hits—including two homers and two doubles—and driving in four runs in Sunday’s finale. His continued production will be critical to the BLC Nine’s hopes moving forward.

Seth Brown also stayed hot at the plate, going 7-for-24 (.292) with a double, two homers, and four RBI. Across 17 games split between Reno and the Las Vegas Aviators, the veteran first baseman is now slashing an eye-popping .447/.488/.934 with 11 home runs and 22 RBI.

Following the All-Star break, the Aces will head to Albuquerque for a three-game road set against the Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Colorado Rockies. First pitch is scheduled for Friday, July 18, at 5:35 p.m. PST.
