SALT LAKE CITY A pair of two-run homers, the first from Luis Matos and the second by Grant McCray, was all the offense for the Sacramento River Cats on Thursday as Sacramento dropped the Salt Lake Bees in game three of their series with a 4-1 final.

It waw the third inning when Matos hit his second dinger of the season, turning around a 1-0 offering and depositing it over the wall in the left-field corner for a two-run shot that gave the River Cats (35-37). Scoring on the play was Osleivis Basabe, who had singled to open the frame.

Later on it was McCray who added another two-run blast, as he became the second River Cat this season to double-digit homers with his 10th of the season. Down in the count 0-1, McCray also left the yard to left field and scored Basabe, who this time set the stage with a one-out triple.

The Bees (27-44) managed their only run in the bottom of the ninth to avoid the shutout, as Ben Gamel hit his third of the season in solo fashion to lead off the inning. However, that was all the offense they could manage, as Salt Lake tallied just six other hits in the contest.

On his A-game was right-hander Carson Seymour (3-8), who collected his third win of the season by tossing six shutout frames with only two hits allowed. Though he did walk four, one off his season high, he also struck out seven for a second straight start (nine last time out).

Matos was one of three River Cats to log a multi-hit game, closing 2-for-3 with the two-run blast and a walk. Bryce Eldridge also had a pair of hits by going 2-for-4 with a double, his second multi-hit effort in his past three games. The same goes for Basabe, who was 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored and a three-bagger.

Sacramento now holds a 2-1 advantage in the series, and they will look to clinch a series split when the two teams line up on Friday for first pitch at 6:05 p.m. (PT).
