Dash Drop Game Four Against Rome, 5-3

ROME, GA (August 11th, 2023) – The Winston-Salem Dash fell in game four of a six game series against the Rome Braves, 5-3, Friday night at AdventHealth Stadium.

Winston-Salem (47-54) found itself trailing early after Rome (49-57) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Dash starter Josimar Cousin only lasted two innings before Anderson Comas replaced the right hander in the third. Comas worked a scoreless third and fourth before the Winston-Salem offense came to life.

In the top of the fifth, Caberea Weaver doubled to right putting him in scoring position. The Nashville, Tennessee native came home to score on an error, tying the game at one. Following the error, Jacob Burke stood at second representing the go-ahead run, and Andy Atwood gave Winston-Salem the lead making it 2-1.

Comas got through the fifth and the Dash added insurance in the sixth. With two outs, Weaver singled, stole second base and advanced to third on an error putting an insurance run 90-feet away. Burke picked up an RBI on a single to center giving the Dash a 3-1 lead.

Brooks Gosswein worked a clean sixth inning, but in the seventh, the Braves got to Kole Ramage. With two runners on, David McCabe doubled bringing home a pair of runs, tying the game, 3-3.

Tied at three, the Dash went down in order in the eighth, and in the bottom half of the frame, a pair of runners came home to score for Rome following two errors and the Braves took a 5-3 lead into the ninth.

Trailing by two, Loidel Chapelli singled with two outs bringing the tying run to the plate, but Rome pitcher Rob Griswold induced a pop up to close out the win for the Braves, 5-3.

Winston-Salem and Rome meet for game five on Saturday. First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. from AdventHealth Stadium.
