Horwitz (Bluefield) and Marin (Elizabethton) Receive POTW Honors

CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Appalachian League announced today that Minor League Baseball selected Bluefield Blue Jays outfielder Spencer Horwitz as Player of the Week and Elizabethton Twins right-handed pitcher Andriu Marin as Pitcher of the Week. Both awards recognize these players' performances for games during the week of August 12-August

CHAPEL HILL, NC- The Appalachian League announced today that Minor League Baseball selected Bluefield Blue Jays outfielder Spencer Horwitz as Player of the Week and Elizabethton Twins right-handed pitcher Andriu Marin as Pitcher of the Week. Both awards recognize these players' performances for games during the week of August 12-August 18.

Horwitz, 21, earned Player of the Week Honors after a dominant five-game stretch. He batted .471, recorded 4 RBI, and scored 6 runs. Horwitz was drafted in the 24th round of the 2019 MLB Draft by the Toronto Blue Jays out of Radford University.
Marin, 21, earned Pitcher of the Week Honors after 6 impressive innings. He conceded 0 ER, only 4 hits, and struck out 11 batters over the 6 frames. Marin was signed by the Minnesota Twins in 2015. He spent last season playing with the Gulf Coast League Twins.
