Frogs complete sweep of Indians at Safeco Field

SEATTLE, Wash.- Friday night the Everett AquaSox had the unique opportunity to play Game Two of the Northern Division Playoff Series at Safeco Field, home of the Seattle Mariners. Matt Festa rose to the occasion, tossing seven shutout innings in an 8-0 AquaSox win over Spokane. The win completed a two-game sweep of the Indians. The Frogs will host Game One of the Northwest League Championship Series against the Eugene Emeralds on Sunday, September 11 at 6:05pm. Tickets for Sunday's game go on sale Saturday, September 10 at 10am. You can also purchase tickets Sunday, September 11 beginning at 10am.

The Seattle Mariners 7th round draft pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, Matt Festa, shined on Friday night. The right-hander from Staten Island, NY weaved up and down the Spokane lineup for seven scoreless innings to lead Everett to the NWL Championship.

Bryson Brigman gave the AquaSox a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third. Brigman slapped the ball in between the first and second baseman, scoring Austin Grebeck who reached base on an error. Nick Zammarelli followed with a bases loaded walk, increasing Everett's lead to 2-0.

Jhombeyker Morales increased the lead to 3-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Morales reached base on an error, then advanced to third on a stolen base and wild pitch by Kyle Cody. Jhombeyker later scored on yet another error committed by Spokane.

Two Season-End NWL All-Stars hit back-to-back two-run doubles in the bottom of the fifth to swell Everett's lead to 7-0. Nick Zammarelli delivered the first double, scoring two and picking up his third RBI of the night. Kristian Brito followed with a two-run double of his own off the left-center field wall.

Donnie Walton added one more run in the bottom of the eighth. Walton hit an RBI double plating Yojhan Quevedo, increasing Everett's lead to 8-0.

Steven Moyers retired the game's final six batters in relief of Matt Festa, sealing an 8-0 win over Spokane.

Donnie Walton and Bryson Brigman both collected two hits on Friday night.
