Salem Keizer scores twice in the eighth for the win

Keizer, OR - The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to snap a 6-6 tie and outlasted the Everett AquaSox 8-6 on Friday night. Orlando Garcia hit a sacrifice fly while Shane Matheny singled in the final run of the inning.

Johnny Adams led the AquaSox offense with three hits. He batted 3-for-4 with a run scored.
Chris Torres led off the game with his first Northwest League home run. He later added an RBI double and finished the game 2-for-5.
Volcanoes starter Peter Lannoo lasted four innings and allowed one run on three hits. Aaron Phillips (3-0) worked 2 2/3 innings in relief while surrendering three runs, two hits, walking two, and striking out six.
It was a rough start for AquaSox right-hander, Anjul Hernandez, who gave up three runs on five hits while throwing 76 pitches in 2 2/3 innings.
Eugene Helder was 0-for-3 with a sacrifice fly and an RBI, but had his 13 game hitting streak snapped.
Salem Keizer finished with 12 hits. Rob Calabrese and Orlando Garcia had three hits apiece for the Volcanoes. The AquaSox committed a season-high six errors.
