Arsenal of Travs arms blank Missions

Michael Brady, Nate Hyatt, Austin Wood, Eduard Santos & Danny Reynolds combined to toss nine four-hit shutout innings with no walks and 11 strikeouts on Tuesday.

North Little Rock, AR - The Arkansas Travelers utilized five pitchers in a 1-0 win over the San Antonio Missions on Tuesday at Dickey-Stephens Park.

RHP Michael Brady made his first start of the season for Arkansas and tossed three perfect innings with a season-high six strikeouts.

RHP Nate Hyatt, who was activated off the Disabled List on Sunday, pitched a scoreless fourth.

RHP Austin Wood (W, 5-0) earned his fifth win of the season with three one-hit frames after Hyatt.

RHP Eduard Santos picked up his first hold of the season and RHP Danny Reynolds (S, 1) earned his first save with a scoreless ninth.

None of the five Travs pitchers walked a batter and the five combined to strike out 11 Missions players.

The lone run of the game was scored in the fourth when RF Kentrail Davis led off with a double, advanced over to third on a LF Drew Maggi groundball and scored on a C Raywilly Gomez single to right-center.

Arkansas stole three bases in the game. 2B Sherman Johnson tied Maggi for the team lead when he improved to 9-for-9 in stolen base attempts with a swipe on a double steal with CF Jared Mitchell in the third, and 3B Brian Hernandez stole second in his first attempt this season in the fifth.

The Travs left 10 runners on base and went 1-for-8 with men in scoring position.

RHP Bryan Rodriguez (L, 3-6) was the hard-luck loser after tossing 5.2 strong frames. Rodriguez allowed the run on seven hits with two walks and six strikeouts.

The Travelers have scored six runs in their last four home wins.

The rest of the Texas League North lost on Tuesday, so with the win, the Travs improved to 25-19 and sit 4.5 games behind the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in the North Division. Arkansas and San Antonio will play game two of the three-game series on Wednesday night at Dickey-Stephens Park. LHP Nate Smith (3-4, 3.71) will toe the rubber against former Angels farmhand RHP Elliot Morris (1-3, 3.32). First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
