Springfield, MO-Braden Bishop had three hits and Beau Amaral homered, doubled and drove in three as the Arkansas Travelers (33-33) won a rain shortened game of six-plus innings over the Springfield Cardinals (32-34), 5-1. With a runner on in the top of the seventh, a flash of power knocked out some of the lighting in the stadium and the umpires called for the tarp and it started to rain hard moments later. A severe storm passed through dumping water and some hail on the ballpark but the precipitation ended after about 45 minutes. The grounds crew worked to get the field back in to playing shape but after a total delay of one hour and 45 minutes the game was called due to unplayable field conditions and the safety of the players. The Travs win combined with Northwest Arkansas' loss move the two teams back into a tie atop the division with four games remaining in the half.
Moments That Mattered
* Beau Amaral blasted a 2-run homer in the first inning, his second of the year.
* After Braden Bishop singled and advanced to second on an error by the left fielder, Amaral doubled to knock him in. Chuck Taylor then followed with a double to make it a three-run Trav lead.
