North Little Rock, AR—The Wichita Wind Surge defeated the Arkansas Travelers for the third consecutive night, this time 5-0 in a game called early after rain deluged the field in the bottom of the eighth. Wichita starter Chris Vallimont fired six scoreless innings with eight strikeouts to earn his third win of the season. Spencer Steer hit a leadoff home run against Matt Brash staking the Wind Surge to an early lead and the game stayed at 1-0 until the top of the eighth when Wichita scored four times to put the game away. Brash struck out eight over five innings but was the losing pitcher.

Moments That Mattered

* Steer’s leadoff blast went to right field and was one of only two hits by the Wind Surge over the first seven innings.

* Arkansas threated in the sixth down a run. They put the tying run in scoring position with one out and had runners at the corners with just one away and even loaded the bases with two out but all three outs in the inning were strikeouts keeping the Travs off the board.
