GREENVILLE- The Asheville Tourists were challenged in their series opener in Greenville but they had all the answers. One of those answers was Zach Daniels. Asheville’s outfielder recorded his second multi-homer game of the season and helped lead the Tourists to a 7-5 win over the Drive.

Daniels opened the scoring with a 401-foot Home Run over the left field wall in the top of the first inning. The score remained 1-0 until Greenville rallied off Asheville’s starting pitcher, Diosmerky Taveras, for three runs in the third. Taveras pitched through the fifth inning and that was the only damage he allowed.

The Tourists offense responded with four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 5-3 lead. Daniels led off the inning with a 435-foot bomb to straight away centerfield. JC Correa doubled and promptly scored on a Luis Santana RBI single off the wall in left. Two batters later, Tim Borden II hit a hanging curveball over the left-centerfield wall for a two-run Homer.

Correa added an insurance run in the top of the fifth with a Sacrifice Fly after Kenedy Corona doubled and took third on a Daniels single. The Drive cut the Tourists lead to one at 6-5 with a two-run Home Run in the bottom of the seventh.

Cristian Gonzalez helped Asheville recapture the momentum with an RBI single in the top of the eighth and Colton Gordon made sure the two-run lead held up down the stretch. Gordon pitched the final four innings to record his first save of the season.

Correa and Daniels both finished with three hits while Santana added two hits to the attack. Asheville ended Greenville’s four-game win streak with the win. The series continues Wednesday with the first pitch slated for 7:05pm ET.
