ASHEVILLE-- Matt Dennis became the latest Asheville Tourists starting pitcher to throw a gem during the course of the team's longest winning streak of the year. Dennis and company beat the Greenville Drive 10-1. The right-hander tossed a season-high eight innings and recorded a career-high ten strikeouts.
With the win over the Drive, the Tourists have won 11 of the 19 meetings between the two teams. Since only two games remain against each other this season, Asheville has clinched another season-series over their South Atlantic League division rivals. The Tourists have not lost a season-series to the Drive since 2010.

The Tourists jumped out in front 1-0 on a Vince Fernandez two-out RBI single in the third. Brian Serven made it 3-0 with a two-run double in the fourth. After the Drive scored their only run of the game on a sacrifice fly in the fifth, Asheville put the game away in the sixth.
Serven gave the Tourists a 4-1 lead with an RBI single. Then with two outs Ben Johnson drove in a run to make it 5-1. The next batter, Manny Melendez, clubbed a two-run double. Melendez immediately stole third and scored on an errant throw. Asheville's right-fielder was not done yet. Melendez added another two-run double in the eighth.
The Tourists have won seven straight games and ten of their last 11. Asheville will look to continue their strong finish with a Sunday evening contest scheduled for 7:05pm.
