ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Hippies were no-hit by the Greenville professional baseball team on Thursday night in a 5-1 loss. The no-hitter was the first thrown at McCormick Field since Bruce Billings' no-hitter in 2008.
Enmanuel De Jesus was the story of the game. The Greenville lefty retired the first 22 batters he faced. De Jesus was five outs away from a perfect game when he hit Todd Czinege with a pitch in the eighth inning.

After De Jesus retired the next batter, the inning was extended on a strikeout throwing error. That led to Asheville's only run of the game.
Following the strikeout, Greenville's manager Iggy Suarez pulled De Jesus and the lefty received a standing ovation from the visiting crowd. Devin Fisher and Durbin Feltman combined to record the final four outs for Greenville.
Nick Kennedy threw 5.2 innings for the Hippies. Erick Julio and Hayden Roberts tossed the final 3.1 frames. Asheville is now one game back of Greenville for first place in the South Atlantic League Southern division.
