Tourists Battle Intimidators; Come Up Short 11-8

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists saw their three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the hottest team in the South Atlantic League, the Kannapolis Intimidators. The Tourists trailed 7-0 at one point but they battled back and really made Kannapolis earn the win.The first batter of the game, Luis González,

ASHEVILLE- The Asheville Tourists saw their three-game winning streak snapped at the hands of the hottest team in the South Atlantic League, the Kannapolis Intimidators. The Tourists trailed 7-0 at one point but they battled back and really made Kannapolis earn the win.
The first batter of the game, Luis González, hit a Home Run to put the visitors in front 1-0. In the third inning, the Intimidators rallied for six runs and chased the Tourists starting pitcher Lucas Gilbreath .

Trailing 7-0, the Tourists offense came alive as many knew it would. Ramon Marcelino drove a in a run with a fourth-inning double to kick things off. In the fifth, Asheville received a two-run double from Bret Boswell and a three-run Home Run by Sean Bouchard . The lead was down to one at 7-6.
Unfazed, Kannapolis reeled off three straight doubles to start the sixth. The Intimidators scored three runs in the inning and really took the momentum back. Casey Golden hit a two-run Home Run for Asheville in the seventh; however, Kannapolis' back end of the bullpen was able to hold the lead.
The Intimidators finished with 18 hits, the most hits Asheville has allowed in a game this season. The Tourists received multi-hit games from Boswell and Steven Linkous . Nate Harris pitched the final three frames for Asheville and limited the opponents to only one run.
Both teams have a quick turnaround with Sunday's contest scheduled for 2:05pm.
