CHARLESTON- The Asheville Tourists dropped their series opener in Charleston to the RiverDogs by a final score of 6-3. The Tourists fought hard to tie the game in the top of the eighth inning; however, a Carlos Vidal bases-loaded triple gave the home team a three-run victory.
Asheville struck out a season-high 15 times in the loss. Six of the nine Tourists players never hit a ball out of the infield. Despite the struggles, the Tourists still managed to plate three runs on six hits.

Trailing 2-0, Ryan Vilade hit a solo Home Run to left-center for the Tourists first run of the game. In the sixth, Sean Bouchard doubled off the top of the wall to bring the Tourists back to within a run.
Asheville leveled the score in the top of the eighth. Vilade hit a one out double, took third on a wild pitch and scored on Bouchard's sacrifice fly to centerfield. Unfortunately, the tie did not last long as the RiverDogs loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom of the eighth.
Vidal's triple plated all three runners and the Tourists went down in order in the ninth. Bret Boswell finished with two hits and Garrett Schilling pitched six innings for another quality start. Asheville is now 7-22 away from home and hitting under .230 as a team in road games.
