Auburn Community Baseball
While professional baseball in Auburn, NY dates back to the late 1870s, the current incarnation of the team traces its roots back to 1957 and the formation of Auburn Community Owned Non-Profit Baseball Association Inc. Auburn Community Baseball, as the company is commonly known, began operating the Auburn Yankees of the New York-Penn League in 1958. The team was renamed Doubledays in 1996 in honor of Civil War general Abner Doubleday, who spent his childhood in Auburn.
