GAME #102: RiverDogs Romp In Series Finale Win Over Jackets

North Augusta, SC - On a bullpen day for both teams, it was the Charleston RiverDogs (Tampa Bay Rays) relievers coming away with a victory. The Jackets fell 8-5 on Sunday and dropped four of six with the RiverDogs. It's the first series Augusta has lost at home in 2021.

The GreenJackets end the season against Charleston with a 6-24 record.

Gabby Rodriguez made the first start of his professional career and allowed just one-run. A solo home run from Jelfry Marte in the third. it was the first of his professional career and made it 1-0.

The Charleston offense kept rolling in the fourth inning. This time a Jonathan Embry home run made it 2-0. The big inning came for the RiverDogs in the 5th inning. A four-run frame gave Charleston a 6-0 lead. The RiverDogs batted around in the inning and took advantage of three walks and a hit batsman.

In the seventh inning, Beau Brundage homered to extend the lead to 7-0.

The GreenJackets did not go quietly though. A four-run seventh inning was capped off by Vaughn Grissom clearing the bases with a triple. Charleston scored in the eighth, but Landon Stephens homered in the home-half to make it 8-5.

Jose Lopez came on for the ninth and shut the door for Charleston.

• Landon Stephens hit his 16th home run of the season.
• Miguel Pena pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the GreenJackets.
