GreenJackets Drop Game 2

June 12, 2018

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 7-5 on Tuesday night to the West Virginia Power.

North Augusta, SC: The Augusta GreenJackets, South Atlantic League affiliate of San Francisco Giants, lost 7-5 on Tuesday night to the West Virginia Power.

The night did not start in the GreenJackets favor, as they gave up four runs in the first inning. Shane Matheny responded with a solo home run to right center field to get one back for the GreenJackets in the bottom of inning. Then in the second inning, the Power answered with another three runs.
With the GreenJackets down 7-1 after two innings, they did not give up and kept the bats going. In the fifth inning, Logan Baldwin tripled to score two runs for Augusta. This was followed up with a Nick Hill double that scored Baldwin from third base.
Now with the GreenJackets down 7-4, Jacob Gonzalez scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to get the GreenJackets within two, but the score would stand for the remainder of the game.
The bullpen for the GreenJackets did a great job of settling down the team after they gave up seven runs in the first two innings. Tyler Schimpf, Olbis Parra, and John Russell would combine to only allow the Power to have five hits over 7 2/3 innings.
The GreenJackets will back in action tomorrow at 7:05 pm for game three of the series against the Power.
Tomorrow will have bark in the park along with Big Beers, Brats and BBQ night presented by Maurice's Piggie Park. Finally on the 14th, will have Thirst Thursday, an Ode to Millennials, and Georgia Southern Night!
