GAME 1 - Continuation of Friday Night's Game: After the GreenJackets trailed Kannapolis 1-0 from Friday's suspended game, we picked things up in the bottom of the 2nd inning. Jacob Gonzalez didn't take long to tie the score. A solo home run for Gonzalez, his 3rd of the season evened the score at one.
Jesus Ozoria was cruising on the mound until he ran into Lenyn Sosa in the 7th inning for Kannapolis. Sosa hit his 3rd home run of the season, and the solo bomb gave Kannapolis a 2-1 advantage.
Ozoria went five innings out of the bullpen, while allowing just one run, and he would strikeout four. It was JJ Santa Cruz to take over on the mound after Ozoria. Santa Cruz struck out the side in the 8th inning.
In the home-half of the 8th inning, the GreenJackets bats broke out in a big way. It was five runs, on four hits. Gonzalez had an RBI double to tie the score at two, then it was a wild pitch to break the tie and make it 3-2 GreenJackets. Ismael Munguia ripped a two-RBI double, and it was a 5-2 lead. Nico Giarratano capped off the scoring with an RBI single to make it 6-2 GreenJackets
After Santa Cruz allowed two hits to start the 9th, Jesus Tona came out of the bullpen to try and close it out for the Jackets and he would get the job done, despite allowing two runs in the 9th. Both were charged to Santa Cruz. It was Tona's 9th save of the season.
Player of the Game: Jacob Gonzalez, 3-4, HR, 2 RBI
A big day for Jacob Gonzalez at the plate paced the GreenJackets to a 6-3 victory. Gonzalez hit his 3rd home run of the season as he continues his great start to the month of June.
