BURLINGTON, N.C.- The Burlington Royals trailed the Bluefield Blue Jays by just a run after five innings, but a late offensive explosion propelled the Blue Jays to an 11-1 win.

Royals 3B Oliver Nunez hit his first home run of the season to account for the Royals' lone run of the game, a solo shot in the bottom of the second.

The blast tied the game at 1-1, as Bluefield had struck first with a first inning run. RF Chavez Young tripled to dead center, and scored on DH Yorman Rodriguez 's RBI single. Despite a strong effort from Royals RHP Carlos Hernandez , who struck out seven in 4.2 innings, the Blue Jays plated an unearned run in the fourth. 1B Ryan Noda walked, and was at third when a ball was misplayed at third base, allowing him to score and put the Blue Jays up for good.

Burlington put men at second and third with no out in the bottom of the fifth, but a double play prevented the Royals from scoring.

Bluefield blew the game open with seven runs in the top of the sixth, all unearned after a pair of early-inning errors. After a run scored on a fielder's choice error, C Ryan Gold hit an RBI single, and a two-RBI double from 3B Jesus Severino made the game 6-1. 2B Jesus Navarro followed with another RBI double, and SS Kevin Smith extended the score to 8-1 on a sacrifice fly. Noda connected on an RBI double for the inning's final run.

RHP Collin Snider kept the Blue Jays off the board in the seventh and eighth innings, but Bluefield scored twice in the ninth off of Ryan Dale , making his second pitching appearance of the season. LF Antony Fuentes picked up an RBI groundout, and Gold hit an RBI single against Dale.

Nunez was the lone Royal with multiple hits, going 2-for-3.
