Peter O'Brien hammered a two-out solo home run to snap a seventh-inning tie and the Omaha Storm Chasers held on to defeat the New Orleans Baby Cakes, 5-3 in Monday's matinee at Werner Park.

The Storm Chasers jumped out with a pair of first-inning runs to take the early lead off New Orleans starter Stephen Fife. Jorge Bonifacio capped the inning with an RBI single, then plated a run in the third on a double play grounder with the bases loaded to boost the Omaha advantage to 3-0.

New Orleans battled back in the fourth inning when the first five batters of the frame reached base, including RBI singles by Brandon Barnes and Moises Sierra. Omaha starter Eric Skoglund recovered the retire the next three in order to preserve the lead, but only momentarily, as Barnes added his second run-scoring single of the game in the fifth to knot the score at 3-3.

O'Brien broke the tie by sending a 2-1 offering from Raudel Lazo (0-2) over the left field fence, and the Chasers added an insurance run in the eighth on Garin Cecchini's infield single, which cashed in a leadoff double by Cam Gallagher.

Al Albuquerque (1-0) worked two scoreless innings of relief to get the victory. Malcom Culver allowed a two-out single in the ninth by Tomas Telis, who finished with three of the Baby Cakes' nine hits, to pick up his second save.

Lazo was handed the loss after Fife scattered three runs and nine hits across 4 2/3 innings.

New Orleans dropped two of three games in the series and wrapped up the first road trip of the season with a 3-4 record.

The 'Cakes return home on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to open a four-game set against the Iowa Cubs.
