Barons Face Smokies Over July 4th Weekend

Independence Day, Saturday Night Fireworks, 50-Cent Hot Dog Night and an appearance by Jake the Diamond Dog highlight homestand.

The Barons return to Regions Field on Friday, July 4th for a five-game series against the Tennessee Smokies, the Double-A Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs. The club set a modern-day attendance record during their last homestand, drawing 41,205 fans from June 24-28, their highest five-game total since the legendary Jordan Season in 1994. The Barons lead the Southern League in total attendance through 40 home games (260,734) and average (6,518) and are ahead of the 40-game pace set during the Inaugural Season at Regions Field in 2013 (230,334) and the club's highest attended season in 1994 (244,648).

The homestand kicks off on Friday with a special July 4th celebration at Regions Field as the Barons take on the Smokies at 6:00 PM. Fans will be entertained all night long by Jake the Diamond Dog presented by HealthSouth. Following the game, fans are invited to stick around for the best view in the city of the 'Thunder on the Mountain' Fireworks show at Vulcan Park and Museum presented by Fox 6.

The fun continues on Saturday where one lucky fan will leave with a Grill courtesy of All-South Appliance. Our Independence Day Weekend continues with a special post-game Saturday Fireworks show presented by Coca-Cola, Alabama Power & Glowble Lighting.

Our patriotic weekend celebration concludes on Sunday with a Salute to America's Armed Forces. The Barons will wear special camouflage jerseys courtesy of DRASH and NAPA.

The homestand concludes with YP Monday presented by YP and 50-Cent Hot Dog Night on Tuesday presented by Kayem Foods, Flowers Baking Co., MINI of Birmingham, ALFA and WIAT 42. Tuesday's throughout the 2014 season are also Social Media Nights at Regions Field were fans can interact with the Barons via Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for the opportunity to win special prizes. Tuesday is also Birmingham Zoo Night at Regions Field.
