Regions Field Welcomes Two Millionth Fan

330 games into the history of Regions Field, two millionth fan crosses the gates

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons are excited to announce that the two millionth fan in the history of Regions Field entered the gates tonight.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Birmingham Barons are excited to announce that the two millionth fan in the history of Regions Field entered the gates tonight.

In its fifth year of existence, Regions Field has opened its gates 330 times for regular season games. It took 169 gate openings to eclipse the one million fan mark, which occurred on June 2nd, 2015. 161 games later, fan number two million crossed through the gates. The lucky fan was Shanika Gibson, a native of Birmingham, Alabama.
For being the two millionth fan, Shanika Gibson receives a prize package including two 2018 Barons season tickets, a pair of tickets to all 2018 Southern League All-Star Game festivities, two tickets to Lady Antebellum performing at Oak Mountain Amphitheater presented by iHeart Radio, two rounds of golf at RTJ at Oxmoor Valley, two $50 gift certificates from Texas de Brazil, a complimentary one night stay at Wind Creek Wetumpka including dinner for two at their Fire Steakhouse, a bicycle compliments of Regions Bank, a large specialty pizza from Pies & Pints, a $25 gift certificate to Napa Auto Parts, a suite courtesy of Birmingham Greyhound Racing, a grill courtesy of AllSouth Appliances, a $250 gift certificate to Diamonds Direct, and more!
Hoover Metropolitan Stadium welcomed its two millionth fan on July 29th, 1994 with an attendance of 12,881. It was the 107th game of the season and the 81st home game of the year. It took almost seven years and nearly 500 games to reach two million fans, whereas Regions Field welcomed fan number two million in just under five years and 330 games.
The Barons and the Lookouts will continue their five game set tomorrow night at Regions Field, with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 p.m. CT. Right-hander Michael Kopech will take the ball for the Barons, while fellow righty Dereck Rodríguez will be on the mound for Chattanooga.
