Bats drop game one of the four game road trip to the Mud Hens

TOLEDO, OH- The Louisville Bats (12-25) lost the first game of the four-game road-trip 5-3 to the Toledo Mud Hens (18-17) at Fifth Third Field.The Bats started right-handed pitcher Jackson Stephens (2-2, 6.81). Stephens pitched six innings, allowed two runs, on five hits with five strikeouts while throwing 110 pitches,

TOLEDO, OH- The Louisville Bats (12-25) lost the first game of the four-game road-trip 5-3 to the Toledo Mud Hens (18-17) at Fifth Third Field.
The Bats started right-handed pitcher Jackson Stephens (2-2, 6.81). Stephens pitched six innings, allowed two runs, on five hits with five strikeouts while throwing 110 pitches, 66 of them for strikes.
The Mud Hens scored first in the bottom of the fifth inning when Efren Navarro doubled, scoring Argenis Diaz and Alex Presley. This gave the Mud Hens a 2-0 lead.
Right-handed pitcher Buck Farmer (0-2, 3.51) started for the Mud Hens. Farmer pitched seven innings, allowed three runs, recorded five strikeouts and only allowed one walk, on 96 pitches, 67 of them for strikes.
The Bats came back in the seventh inning when Rob Brantly, Dilson Herrera, and Beau Amaral all singled scoring Zach Walters, Jesse Winker, and Brantly giving the Bats a 3-2 lead.
The Mud Hens came right back in the bottom of the seventh when Navarro singled to score JaCoby Jones, then Omar Infante singled scoring Navarro from third, giving the Mud Hens a 4-3 lead.
The Muds Hens added on an insurance run in the bottom of the eighth when Presley doubled to right field scoring Diaz from first making the score 5-3. This would be enough for the Mud Hens to get the win.
The Bats will be back in action tomorrow morning for game two of four of the series. The Bats plan to start right-handed pitcher Asher Wojciechowski (1-0, 0.92) and the Mud Hens plan to start right-handed pitcher William Cuevas (1-3, 5.33). First pitch is scheduled for 10:35 a.m.
