Bats host Corky Miller Night during final weekend

Veteran catcher's number to be retired

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Louisville Bats will host Corky Miller Night on Sunday, August 31 to celebrate the 10-year Louisville career of the veteran catcher. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. at Louisville Slugger Field.

A pregame ceremony will retire Miller's No. 8, making it the first retired number for the Louisville franchise in its 33 seasons. A limited edition poster will be given to the first 2,000 paid admissions in attendance and Miller will be signing autographs during the game. Miller, who last appeared in a game for the Bats on May 18 in Durham, N.C., is the Louisville franchise's all-time leader with 548 games played. There will also be $1 hot dogs and Pepsi products available on Sunday as well as Monday, September 1 as a part of Fan Appreciation Weekend. Fireworks will also follow Sunday's game.

The Bats' final $1 Budweiser beer happy hour of 2014 will be on Thursday, August 28 from 5:30-7 p.m. and feature live music on the Overlook. Friday, August 29 will feature an appearance by the ZOOperstars! inflatable entertainment characters and postgame fireworks. On Saturday, August 30, Johnny Cueto bobbleheads will be given away to the first 3,000 paid admissions in attendance. It is the fourth and final bobblehead giveaway of the 2014 series.

The Toledo Mud Hens, Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers will visit for three games from Thursday through Saturday. The Indianapolis Indians, Triple-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, then join the Bats for a pair on Sunday and Monday. The five-game homestand will mark the end of the 15th season of baseball at Louisville Slugger Field. The Bats are currently 597-478 at their home on the corner of Preston and Main.

The Bats have averaged 8,979 fans per game at Louisville Slugger Field since its opening in 2000. Tickets for all regular season games are available.
