Bats shutout in series finale, 3-0

Toledo, OH - A three-run blast from Dominic Ficociello was all the Mud Hens needed as they shutout the Bats 3-0 on Sunday night at Fifth Third Field.
The Bats only mustered up five hits, two of them from Hernan Iribarren in the shutout loss. This is the 10^th time this season that the Bats have been shutout after being shutout a franchise-worst 16 times a season ago.
Right-hander Jackson Stephens tossed his team-leading 12^th quality start striking out six over seven innings while only allowing the three runs on the home run. He threw 108 pitches, 67 for strikes. His season-high was 110 pitches on May 15 at Toledo. He has now lost four decisions in a row dating back to July 30 and is 7-9 on the season.
Toledo starter Arte Lewicki moved to 5-0 earning the win as he didn't allow a run in six and one-third innings and struck out seven.
The Bats loaded the bases with one out in the 7^th but grounded into a 6-4-3 double play to end the threat. Mud Hens' closer Edward Mujica earned his 18^th save with a perfect ninth ining.
The Bats return home tomorrow for a doubleheader beginning at 5:00 p.m., gated will open at 4:30 p.m. Lefty Cody Reed (4-9, 4.77) will start game one for the Bats. The Indians are still TBA.
