LOUISVILLE, KY - The Louisville Bats (54-82) scored seven unanswered runs to claim a 7-4 victory over the Indianapolis Indians (75-61) on Tuesday night at Louisville Slugger Field.
Darnell Sweeney, Hernan Iribarren and Zach Vincej each collected two hits to pace the Bats offense.
Both teams failed to get on the scoreboard until the fourth inning when Indianapolis scored three runs, two of which were unearned.
After the Indians extended their lead in the fifth inning on an RBI single by Gift Ngoepe, the Bats pulled within one in the bottom half of the frame courtesy of a Brandon Dixon two-run double and Adam Brett Walker RBI single, making it a 4-3 ballgame.
The Bats captured the lead by putting up a four-spot in the sixth inning, highlighted by a Jose Duarte go-ahead two-run single. Duarte has hit safely in all four of his games since being promoted from Daytona.
Amir Garrett (1-4, 6.38) started for the Bats and took a no decision on the evening. The left-hander allowed four runs (two earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out four in five innings of work.
Jimmy Herget closed the game out by pitching a scoreless ninth inning while notching his ninth save of the season.
The Bats and Indians will be back in action again tomorrow night at 6:35 p.m. Right-hander Rookie Davis (4-2, 4.47) will start for Louisville while right-hander Drew Hutchison (8-8, 3.47) will toe the rubber for Indianapolis.
