Bats sweep doubleheader, 7-1, 5-0

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Louisville Bats (56-85) swept their fourth doubleheader of the season as they defeated the Columbus Clippers (70-71), 7-1 and 5-0 on Saturday at Huntington Park.
In game one, lefty Cody Reed and righty Luke Farrell combined to allow one run over seven innings on just three hits. Reed started and went three innings allowing one hit and striking out two. Farrell earned the win in the seven-inning game finishing the final four innings allowing the lone run on two hits with two walks and six strikeouts.
The Bats offense exploded with three long balls one each from Brandon Dixon (two-run), Sebastian Elizalde and Tyler Goeddel, both solo shots. Dixon finished 3-for-4 with the homer, double and three RBI as he's up to 31 doubles and 16 home runs on the season. He also stole his 18th base of the season.
Louisville MVP Elizalde also finished 3-for-4 for his 40th multi-hit game of the season, leading the team and four off the franchise record set by Jason Bourgeois in 2014.
In game two, the Bats offense again got off to a hot start scoring three runs in the third and two more in the fourth. A bases-clearing double by Adam Brett Walker opened the scoring in third. In the fourth, Tyler Goeddel doubled in a run and then scored while Darnell Sweeney reached on an error to make it 5-0 Bats.
Lefty Amir Garrett arguably had his best start of the season in his final one of the season for Louisville. He allowed just one hit in a shutout performance with just one walk and 10 punchouts.
The Bats will close out the 2017 season tomorrow at 2:05 at Huntington Park. Righty Rookie Davis (4-3, 4.72) will face off against right-hander Jarrett Grube (6-9, 4.74). The Bats will open the 2018 at home on Friday, April 6. Season tickets and group outings are on sale now.
