Bradley Named Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher

The BayBears are proud to announce BayBears starting pitcher Archie Bradley was named the Southern League's Most Outstanding Pitcher for the 2013 season. The award is voted on by Southern League field managers, radio broadcasters and print media. 

Bradley started the 2013 season with the Class A Advanced Visalia Rawhide where he pitched 28 innings striking out 43 with a 1.26 ERA. He earned the California League Pitcher of the week, April 4 - 14, before being called up to Double-A Mobile on May 1st. 

While with Mobile the right-handed pitcher had a record of 12-5 with a 1.98 ERA in 21 games started. He racked up 119 strikeouts in 123.1 innings pitched giving up only five home runs. He earned Southern League Pitcher of the Week twice, May 13 - 19 and July 29 - August 5, and was chosen as a Southern League All-Star.

Bradley pitched his first complete nine-inning game on Friday, August 2nd. He was also the starting pitcher for the BayBears first no-hitter on Wednesday, August 14 against the Huntsville Stars; he pitched five innings striking out seven and earning the win.  

Baseball America has ranked Bradley as the #24 prospect in all of baseball in 2013. He was chosen to represent the Diamondbacks in the 2013 Futures All-Star Game in New York, New York where he pitched a perfect inning for the United States team. 

The Muskogee, Oklahoma native was drafted out of Broken Arrow High School in the first round (7th overall) in the June 2011 Amateur Draft. He is in his third professional baseball season totaling 290 innings pitched, 318 strikeouts and a 2.76 ERA. 

Bradley will start the first game of the first round of playoffs vs. the Mississippi Braves at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, September 5th at Hank Aaron Stadium.
