The BayBears Claw Out a Win

Game one of the Bay to Bay final 2013 series goes to Mobile.
August 29, 2013

The Mobile BayBears were able to pull out a close 2-1 win over the Pensacola Blue Wahoos in game one of the final regular season home stand at Hank Aaron Stadium.

The Wahoos came out strong, scoring in the first inning off of a two out rally started by a double to right field by Yorman Rodriguez. Donald Lutz was able to keep the inning going with an error by BayBears third baseman Garrett Weber, moving Rodriguez to third. Tucker Barnhart capitalized on the error with a RBI single to drive in the one and only run for the Wahoos.

Dustin Martin tied the game with a long solo home run to right field in the bottom of the third off of Wahoos starting pitcher Carlos Contreras. The winning run didn't come until the seventh when Keon Broxton led off the inning with a double. Hagens sac bunted Broxton to third and Mike Freeman followed with a RBI single to put the BayBears ahead for good.

BayBears starting pitcher Bradin Hagens had a good game going seven innings giving up one run on six hits with four strikeouts and no walks. Willy Paredes followed Hagens' stellar lead and struck out two in the one inning he pitched, setting up closer Jake Barrett perfectly, who earned his 14th save of the season.

Game two is tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m. with gates opening at 6 p.m. The BayBears are still in the hunt for the second half South Division title and three more wins could cement their spot.
