Baysox Announce 2014 Schedule
BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce today the 2014 schedule for the 22nd season of Baysox baseball. The team opens the 2014 campaign at home Thursday, April 3 with seven games against the Harrisburg Senators and Richmond Flying Squirrels. During the season, the Baysox will play 71 home games over 14 home stands concluding with the regular season finale at home Monday, September 1.
The Baysox most common opponent at home next year is the Altoona Curve, who play 12 games in Bowie. The Erie SeaWolves come for 11 games, Richmond Flying Squirrels and Harrisburg Senators for 10 and the Akron Aeros will play seven in Bowie. For Eastern Division teams, the Trenton Thunder come to Bowie for six games, the New Britain Rock Cats four times, and the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, Reading Fightin Phils, Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Mets each play in Bowie three times.
New for the 2014 season, the Baysox have moved the standard game start time to 6:35 from 7:05 for all games Monday through Saturday. Sunday home games will begin at 2:05 p.m. through June 22 and 6:05 p.m. for Sundays beginning July 13. Exceptions to those times include four 11:05 a.m. games on Wednesday, April 9, Wednesday, April 23, Monday, July 14, and Wednesday, July 23. The Baysox also play at 2:05 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 31 and Labor Day Monday, Sep. 1.
"Based on fan feedback, we have decided to move most of our weekday games that traditionally started at 7:05 to 6:35 in 2014," said General Manager Brian Shallcross. "Two years ago we adjusted our Saturday game times to 6:35, which has been a popular change with our fans."
