Baysox Drop Series Opener to Reading, 4-2

Bowie Has Dropped Season-High Six Straight

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox (31-33) dropped their sixth straight contest with a 4-2 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils (35-25) in the series opener on Tuesday night at Prince George's Stadium in Bowie.

Andrew Pullin's solo shot in the top of the first off of Baysox starter John Means gave Reading an early 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third, Means retired the first two batters he faced before a single and a two-run blast by Kyle Martin gave the Fightin Phils a 3-0 advantage.
Means (2-7) allowed three runs on six hits to go along with a walk and a strikeout in five innings of work.
Reading starter Mario Sanchez (4-1) surrendered six hits while fanning three over 6.2 shutout IP.
Trailing 3-0, Bowie had runners at the corners with one away in both the fourth and the fifth, but was unable to push a run across.
Chace Numata's two-out RBI single in the eighth extended Reading's lead to 4-0. The run was charged to RHP Ryan Meisinger (2.0 IP, 3 H, R, ER, 2 K)
LHP Garrett Cleavinger (2.0 IP, H, BB, 2 K) had a scoreless outing in relief for manager Gary Kendall's squad.
Stevie Wilkerson (4-4, 2B, RBI) had a multi-hit game for the Baysox. The four hits tied a career-high for Wilkerson, the fifth four-hit game of his career.
In the home half of the ninth, Aderlin Rodriguez reached with a one-out single and scored on DJ Stewart's RBI triple . Stewart later scored on Wilkerson's RBI single. Both runs were charged to RHP Alexis Rivero (1.0 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 2 ER, K).
The series continues on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. as RHP David Hess (6-4, 4.52) will head to the hill for the Baysox against Fightin Phils RHP Miguel Nunez (1-4, 2.86).
