PEORIA, IL - The Beloit Snappers (31-42) scored the first and last runs of Tuesday's series opener, but the middle runs belonged to the Peoria Chiefs (29-44) in their 4-2 win over the Snappers.

After four scoreless innings, the Snappers notched the first run on an RBI single from Marcos Rivera to score Nic Ready from second base. However, the Chiefs scored four unanswered runs in the fifth through seventh innings, taking advantage of a pair of errors from the Snappers.

Beloit had the bases loaded in the top of the eighth inning and Will Banfield grounded into a fielder's choice to score a run, but the Chiefs got an out at the third base. With the tying run on first and two outs, Troy Johnston flew out to the center field to end the inning.

The Chiefs sat down Beloit in order in the ninth to win the series opener 4-2.

Beloit's Top Performers: Connor Scott was 2-for-4 with a run for his second straight multi-hit game. Ready had a double and a walk in a 1-for-3 night. Starter Zach King tossed 4 1/3 innings with just one earned run.
