GRAND CHUTE, WI - For the second straight contest, an eighth inning rally by Wisconsin downed Beloit, as the Sky Carp lost 5-1 to the Timber Rattlers on Thursday night at Neuroscience Group Field.

The loss eliminates the possibility of the Sky Carp finishing above .500, as Beloit drops to 62-66 with three games remaining on the schedule.

The Sky Carp started the game with a bang, as Dalvy Rosario crushed a leadoff homer on the second pitch of the contest to make it 1-0.

In the second, Wisconsin responded as Jose Acosta poked an opposite field homer to left off Evan Fitterer to knot the game at one.

Thanks to five strong innings from Evan Fitterer and six innings with seven strikeouts for T-Rats starter Alexander Cornielle, the game remained deadlocked at one until the late innings.

After a scoreless sixth from JP Mercedes, Patrick Murphy entered the game for Beloit in the seventh and worked a 1-2-3 inning.

Murphy came back out for the eighth, when Wisconsin cracked the lefty. After Acosta walked to open the inning, Zack Raabe doubled to put runners on second and third.

Arbert Cipon delivered the go-ahead single, driving in two on a chopper passed Beloit’s drawn-in infield. Wisconsin would add two more runs – one on an error and another on an Eduardo Garcia RBI single to make it 5-1.

Beloit managed two base runners in the ninth, but T-Rats reliever Brannon Jordan worked around them to shut the door.

The series continues tomorrow evening at 6:40 pm, with Jake Walters scheduled to start for Beloit. Fans can tune into the action for free using the Big Radio app.
