BELOIT — The Beloit Sky Carp’s penchant for the dramatic came through once again Friday night at ABC Supply Stadium.

The Sky Carp received a bases-loaded single with one out in the 10th inning from Ynmanol Marinez to catapult them to a thrilling 6-5 victory.

The crowd of 2,101 saw Beloit win for the third time in four games against the Whitecaps, which allowed them to stay within three games of the front-running South Bend Cubs.

West Michigan carried a 5-4 lead into the ninth inning, but a Zach Subia cracked a one-out double and Kyler Castillo brought him home with a single to tie the game.

After the Whitecaps plated a run in the top of the 10th, Jose Salas led off the Sky Carp half with a single, sending Tevin Mitchell to third. Dalvy Rosario walked to load the bases, and Victor Mesa singled home Mitchell with the tying run before Marinez sent the fans home happy before a fireworks show lit up the sky.

The ending was a fitting way to celebrate the ballpark’s one-year birthday, with several key members of the team that helped make the ballpark a reality throwing out first pitches before the game began.

Chandler Jozwiak picked up the win after pitching the final three innings of the game.

The six-game series will continue Saturday night, with the first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Legendary organist Nancy Faust will be entertaining fans all evening long, and the first 750 fans through the gates will receive a backpack, courtesy of Educators Credit Union.
