LANSING, Mich— Behind another outstanding performance from M.D. Johnson, the Beloit Sky Carp defeated Lansing 1-0 Wednesday afternoon to even the series at a game each.

Cody Morissette didn’t waste any time getting the Sky Carp on the scoreboard as he crushed a home run to right field to lead off the game.

It was Morisette’s 12th blast of the season, and second leadoff homer of the season.

Although the Beloit offense was quiet after Morissette’s bomb, the pitching was plenty good enough to sustain the victory.

Johnson (5-5) pitched six scoreless frames, allowing just three hits and a walk while striking out seven. Robinson Martinez, Sean Reynolds and Justin Evans all contributed scoreless innings to close the game out.

Evans left the tying run on second base to end the game, recording his second save of the season.

The Sky Carp and Lugnuts will play the final game of the first half on Thursday beginning at 6:05 p.m. Central time.

Beloit will return to ABC Supply Stadium to start a six-game homestand against the South Bend Cubs beginning Tuesday at 6:35 p.m.
