The Lansing Lugnuts scored early and often to defeat Beloit 10-0 in the series opener at Jackson Field on Tuesday night.

In his first pro start in his home state of Michigan, Chris Mokma allowed 6 earned runs on 10 hits in 5.2 innings of work.

The deficit started in the second, as Lansing pushed across two runs. The Lugnuts opened it up in the third, scoring four times on four hits and two errors by the Beloit infield.

Beloit’s defense surrendered a season-high four errors in the defeat.

The Sky Carp failed to crack Mac Lardner, as the Lansing starter tossed six shutout frames on the way to a victory.

As soon as the southpaw departed, Beloit threatened. In the seventh, the Sky Carp started the frame with three straight singles to load the bases. However, reliever Joe DeMers induced a shallow pop out and then a double play to escape unscathed.

Beloit will have a chance to even the series tomorrow afternoon with a 1:05 ET Wednesday matinee. MD Johnson will take the ball for Beloit. Fans can listen to the action for free on the Big Radio app.
