EASTLAKE, Ohio-- What started as an ordinary Fireworks Night at Classic Park will likely be remembered as ‘Cody Morissette night,’ as the Marlins’ 2021 second round draft pick belted three homers to boost Beloit to an 11-1 win over the Lake County Captains on Friday night.

Beloit’s second baseman blasted a leadoff homer in the first, a 2-run blast in the fifth and then another solo shot in the eighth, all no-doubters, to accomplish the feat.

While Beloit’s offense dominated, their pitchers turned in another strong outing.

Starter Dax Fulton went five innings, allowing just a solo homer in the second on his way to a seven-strikeout performance and his second win of the season.

The Sky Carp rallied for two runs in the third and fourth, followed by a four-run fifth, highlighted by Morrissette’s second longball.

After Fulton exited after the fifth inning, the Beloit ‘pen picked up where he left off. Josan Mendez tossed two scoreless innings, followed by zeros from Tyler Mitzel in the 8th and Justin Evans in the 9th.

Fittingly, the final out of the game was a groundout to second, where Morissette made the play to put the finishing touches on a career night.

The multi-homer game is the Exeter, New Hampshire native’s first career multi-homer game. 6 RBIs are also a career high. The left-handed hitter leads the Sky Carp in both categories (11 homers, 39 RBIs).

The Sky Carp will return to Classic Park tomorrow night for a rematch with Lake County at 7:00 ET. Fans can listen to the action for free on the Big Radio app.
