The Beloit Snappers (19-22) racked up 13 hits, but the Peoria Chiefs (24-19) out did them just a bit more with 15 hits and defeated the Snappers 6-5 in front of 301 fans.

The 15 hits by the Chiefs were a new season high allowed by Snappers pitching on the season. Chiefs first baseman Zach Kirtley led the way with three hits.
Snappers starter Wyatt Marks, who started the season 3-1, picked up his third straight loss. In 5.1 innings, he gave up seven hits, four earned runs and nine strikeouts. He came into the day third in the Midwest League in punchouts. The Snappers never led, going down immediately 2-0 in the second inning off a Dennis Ortega two-run home run.
A Trace Loehr single in the fourth scored Logan Farrar to tie it at two, the first and only time the score was tied after 0-0. It was Loehr's sixth straight game with a hit and he has now hit safely in eight of his last 10 games. He is hitting .400 over the course of the streak. After the Chiefs pushed home three more runs in the sixth, left fielder Lazaro Armenteros launched a three-run home run off the scoreboard in left to cut the deficit to one.
That, however, was as close as the Snappers would get, stranding two men on base in the ninth when pinch hitter Skyler Weber popped out to second to end the ballgame.
Heath Bowers and Josh Reagan both came on to pitch the final 3.3 innings in relief of Marks. Neither gave up any earned runs, but all three Snappers pitchers were affected by three defensive errors on the night. Chiefs starter Zach Prendergast earned the win, going six innings and letting up two runs, one earned, and four strikeouts.
Snappers first baseman Hunter Hargrove had another big game in the month of May. Two days after his team-high 15-game hit streak came to an end, Hargrove went three-for-five to lead the team in hits. In his last 17 games, he is batting .394 with 26 hits, six RBI and only six strikeouts.
Starting catcher Jordan Devencenzi has two hits, extending his hit streak to nine games. During the streak, he is batting .382 with 13 hits, four doubles and just three strikeouts.
Armenteros' homer meant the Snappers have hit at least one extra-base hit in 27 of their last 28 games. However, the Snappers also moved to 3-10 on the season in games a Snapper hits a home run. Logan Farrar went 0-4 with a walk, just his fifth game in May he has not recorded a hit.
