The Beloit Snappers (11-13) needed just a two-run double from Jesus Lopez, and solid pitching from Jean Ruiz, Seth Martinez and Josh Reagan to take a 2-1 victory over the Lake County Captains (13-15) Sunday afternoon at Classic Park.

Lopez drilled a two-run double in the second inning, as he plated Logan Farrar and Trace Loehr to give the Snappers a 2-0 lead. Logan Farrar started the rally with a one out single, before Loehr drew a two-out walk to set the stage for Lopez.
For Lopez, he notched just his second and third RBI's of the season with the two-bagger in the second.
Snappers starter Jean Ruiz held the Captains in check for the majority of his outing, as the right-hander tossed four innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out four batters.
The lone run Ruiz surrendered came in his final inning of work in the fourth, as Will Benson singled home Nolan Jones to bring the Captains within a run.
That is as close as Lake County would get, however, as both Seth Martinez and Josh Reagan shut the door on any potential late inning comeback this evening.
Martinez was the first out of the Snappers bullpen, as the right-hander tossed three scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while issuing just one walk to lower his season ERA to 2.40. For Martinez, he picked up his first win of the season and his first win as a Snapper since
Josh Reagan then tossed the final two innings, as he gave up just two hits and two walks while striking out a batter as he notched his third save of the season.
The Snappers managed just four hits in the contest, and were out hit by the Captains who had nine hits, but the Snappers prevailed for the 2-1 series winning victory.
The win also marked the 600th victory in the managerial career for Snappers Manager Webster Garrison.
The Snappers will return to Pohlman Field Monday night at 6:30 p.m., as they begin a six-game homestand with a three-game set against the Great Lakes Loons. Right-hander Wyatt Marks (3-1, 1.90) and the Loons will send right-hander Willis Montgomerie (0-1, 1.57). It is a Monster Deal Monday presented by WCLO/WJVL as 2 GA tickets, 2 hot dogs, 2 fountain soft drinks, 2 popcorns, & 2 adjustable hats, all for just $26. That's a savings of more than $40. Also, All 12-oz. domestic drafts are just $1.50.
