Colorado Springs, CO—The Billings Mustangs bullpen couldn’t keep the Rocky Mountain Vibes away for long, as the Vibes score four runs in the final two innings to down the Mustangs in game one 8-5.

Billings jumped out to an early lead after Jalen Garcia clubbed a three-run home run. His sixth home run in his last six games. Rocky Mountain answered with a run in the bottom of the second inning, an RBI single from Sergio Macias.

Chris Eusay pulled a ball down the third base line to score two and add to Billings lead 5-1. That would be all of the offense the Mustangs would score the rest of the way. Vibes starter Jaasiel Ochoa would throw four scoreless innings after that.

Rocky wouldn’t go down without a fight, as they scratched across three runs across in the fourth inning. This would start the streak of seven unanswered runs.

The Vibes took their first lead of the ballgame in the seventh inning. After the first two men reached on a single and walk, Manny Olloque RBI groundout plated the tying run. The next batter, Josh Esparza hit a deep fly ball to right field to score Jacob Barfield from third base. The Vibes led 6-5 after seven innings of play.

Macias wasn’t done either. He collected his first home run in his first game with the Vibes. His two-run home run gave the Vibes some necessary separation in the eighth inning. Marcias finished the evening 2-for-3 with three RBI in his debut. Vibes led 8-5 and Oscar Marcelino retires the side in order in the ninth to pick up the save.

Gaylon Viney records the no-decision tonight. In his outing, he went five innings and struck out five while walking just one. Since coming off the injured list, he has walked just two batters in 14 2/3 innings in three starts.
