Binghamton Rumble Ponies To Rebrand as Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs For Select Games This August

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. – In honor of National Meatball Day, the Binghamton Rumble Ponies are excited to unveil the Club’s newest alternate identity for the 2025 season, the Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs. The introduction of the Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs comes following the successful unveiling of the Binghamton Bathtub Donkeys, which was revealed in January 2025.
Binghamton’s newest name is inspired by the rich Italian Heritage found not only in Binghamton, but throughout the Southern Tier region; specifically Endicott, NY. In the early days of Endicott, NY an area known as the “North Side,” was huge with Italian roots. Many of the Italian immigrants moving to the region worked at the Endicott-Johnson Shoe Company, Inc. However, many local property owners would not sell land to Italian immigrants, so Endicott-Johnson purchased properties for their employees and along the cobblestone streets of Endicott grew the vibrant community of Little Italy with fantastic food destinations. Some of those restaurants remain to this day on Oak Hill Avenue.
The alternate brand is accompanied by a new uniform that the team will wear on the field Thursday, August 14th through Saturday, August 16th. The official uniform features the traditional Italian colors of white, red, and green while incorporating two distinct logos representative of the Italian dish of spaghetti and meatballs. The primary logo features a meatball portrayed as an Italian gondolier on a bed of pasta making its way through a river of sauce with a baseball bat fork. The secondary logo features the baseball bat fork of the meatball gondolier with spaghetti noodles wrapped around the utensil.
The Southern Tier Spicy Meatballs series (August 14th - 16th) is presented by Mirabito Energy Products and coincides with the St. Mary’s Bazaar taking place around the corner from the ballpark. While more details on the festivities will be released in the coming months, the first 1,000 fans through the gates on Saturday, August 16th will receive a Spicy Meatballs replica jersey.
The Rumble Ponies kick off the 2025 season at home on Tuesday, April 8th vs. the Hartford Yard Goats at 6:07 PM. Individual game tickets, flex booklets, and season tickets are currently on sale at the The Visions Federal Credit Union Starting Gate Box Office.
