Five-Run Third Powers RubberDucks Past Ponies

Brooks Hits Grand Slam, Rodriguez Follows with Solo Homer to Propel Akron Offense

BINGHAMTON, NY - The Akron RubberDucks scored all five of their runs on two home runs with two outs in the third inning and defeated the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 5-0 Friday night at NYSEG Stadium.

Trenton Brooks hit a grand slam over the wall in right, and the next batter Nellie Rodriguez followed with a solo homer to left.

RHP Austin McGeorge (0-4) suffered the loss and pitched three innings. He was tagged with five runs on six hits and struck out two. Joseph Shaw, Eric Hanhold and Adonis Uceta combined for six scoreless innings of relief.

Akron starter Adam Scott (3-0) picked up the win and went six scoreless innings in which he allowed five hits. The Canandaigua, NY, native struck out seven. 

The Ponies (6-13, 41-42) and RubberDucks (7-11, 41-46) continue their four-game series Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium. RHP Harol Gonzalez takes the mound against LHP Eli Lingos.
