Rumble Ponies Shut Out by RubberDucks for Second Straight Game

Barnes Smacks Two Doubles, Reaches Base Four Times

AKRON, OH - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies were blanked by the Akron RubberDucks 5-0 Sunday afternoon at Canal Park. The Ponies were held scoreless over the final 21 innings of the series.

The Rumble Ponies (22-25, 57-54) were limited to just three hits and left multiple runners on base three times, including stranding a runner at third three times. They were 0-14 with runners in scoring position.

The RubberDucks (17-27, 51-62) got on the scoreboard with three runs in the second inning. Nellie Rodriguez broke the scoreless tie with a two-run double to left off Ponies' starter Tony Dibrell. Two batters later, Logan Ice hit an RBI single.

The score remained 3-0 until the eighth when Trenton Brooks smacked an RBI triple into the right field corner. He came around to score on a Connor Marabell RBI single.

LHP Scott Moss (1-0) earned the win in his RubberDucks debut as he tossed five scoreless innings while he struck out seven and allowed two hits. Dibrell (0-4) suffered the loss as he allowed three runs on two hits and struck out six over five innings. Argenis Angulo picked up his second save of the season with two scoreless innings.

The Rumble Ponies return home to begin a three-game series with the Harrisburg Senators Tuesday evening at NYSEG Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35 PM on NewsRadio 1290 AM WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show starts at 6:20 PM.

POSTGAME NOTES: Barrett Barnes recorded two of the Ponies three hits as he hit two doubles… He reached base safely all four times he came to bat as he went 2-2 and drew two walks… Sam Haggerty tallied the other Binghamton hit with a leadoff double in the first.
