Rumble Ponies' Win Streak Halted at Five with Loss to Sea Dogs

Lee's Four Hits, Krizan's Homer Not Enough to Lead Binghamton to Sixth Straight Win

PORTLAND, ME - The Binghamton Rumble Ponies saw their five-game winning streak end with a 7-3 loss to the Portland Sea Dogs Saturday night at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs (10-13) scored one run in each of the first and second innings and then scored three in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead. C.J. Chatham drove in three runs and went 3-5 with a pair of doubles. Brett Netzer tallied two RBI.

The Ponies (11-14) scored their first run of the game in the third when David Thompson reached base on a throwing error and Quinn Brodey came home. Jason Krizan drilled a two-run home run in the top of the ninth for Binghamton's other runs. It was his seventh long ball of the season, and he is now up to 39 RBI. Braxton Lee registered his first four-hit game of 2019 as he went 4-5 with a run scored.

RHP Mickey Jannis (5-2) suffered the loss as he allowed five runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts in six innings of work. Jannis had won his last three starts. Righty Denyi Reyes (4-9) picked up the win and allowed one unearned run on five hits over six innings.

The Ponies' five-game winning streak that ended with this loss is tied for the team's longest this season. They also won five straight from April 18-23.

Binghamton and Portland conclude this five-game series Sunday afternoon at Hadlock Field. First pitch will be at 1:00 PM and can be heard on NewsRadio 1290 AM WNBF and the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union pregame show starts at 12:45 PM.

POSTGAME NOTES: Portland's two runs in the eighth snapped a stretch of 16.2 scoreless innings for the Binghamton bullpen… The Ponies had 10 hits and left nine runners on base.
