Stud Muffins Drop Third Straight in Loss to Curve

Binghamton, NY - The Binghamton Stud Muffins (33-28) dropped their third straight game falling to the Altoona Curve 6-2 Friday night in the series opener at NYSEG Stadium. 

Both teams had 10 hits but the Ponies left 13 men on base and were 2 for 10 with runners in scoring position. Harol Gonzalez (3-2) pitched well in his start but took the loss as he allowed three runs over six innings with three walks and nine strikeouts, leaving with the Ponies down 3-2. 

Altoona third basemen Robbie Glendinning in his first game back at double-a, hit a two-run homer off of Joseph Shaw in the seventh to make it 5-2. Bralin Jackson tacked on an RBI double off of Shaw in the eighth. 

Curve catcher Jason Delay had two RBI groundouts while Hunter Owen was 3-3 with two runs scored. Blake Cederlind (2-0) earned the win in relief for Altoona. 

The Ponies scored runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the game at two. In the fourth, Quinn Brodey hit an RBI single to drive home Ali Sanchez. In the fifth, Sanchez had an RBI single of his own to score David Thompson. Sanchez now has a seven-game hit streak and finished 3-5 with a run scored and RBI. 

Ponies reliever Ryder Ryan, activated off the IL today, made his first appearance since May 11 and pitched a scoreless ninth. 

The Rumble Ponies will continue their series against the Curve (33-31) on Saturday night at NYSEG Stadium for "Italian Heritage Night." First pitch is at 6:35PM on Newsradio 1290 WNBF and on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies channel on TuneIn. The Horizons Federal Credit Union Pregame show begins at 6:20PM. 

POSTGAME NOTES: The opposing team has now scored first in the last four games…Binghamton falls to 10-16 at home compared with a 23-12 mark on the road…Luis Carpio and Quinn Brodey both had multi-hit games.
