The Barons scooped up their first home win of the season, 2-1 over the Shuckers.
For the third time in as many starts, RHP Davis Martin was electric. He went five innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out seven.
The only scrape on Martin’s line came on a two-out bloop single that would have been caught if the left-fielder Tyler Neslony had not lost the ball in the lights in the second inning.
In the fourth, the Barons scored the two runs they needed. Yoelqui Cespedes ripped a home run to right field, his third of the year. Shortly after that, Raudy Read singled to center field to bring in Jose Rodriguez.
When @ycespedes51 goes shopping, he buys his homers in bulk.

From there, it was up to the bullpen. Yoelvin Silven made his Barons debut on the same day he was promoted from Class A Winston-Salem. The righty didn’t allow a hit in two innings of work. Lincoln Henzman conceded three hits, but picked up the two inning save with three strikeouts.
The Barons lace up against the Shuckers again on Wednesday at 7:05 CT. Scott Blewett goes for Birmingham, and Andy Otero starts for Biloxi.
