Barons Fall in Rain-Shortened Contest
JACKSON, Tenn. - The Birmingham Barons (14-9, 41-51) fell to the Jackson Generals (14-9, 53-40) in a rain-shortened contest by a 6-3 final Saturday night at The Ballpark at Jackson.

The game entered a delay with two outs in the bottom of the fifth and did not resume. League officials finalized the contest shortly before 9 p.m. CT.
The Generals have hit 22 home runs across 18 games against the Barons this season. Baez is responsible for five.
Jackson took a 4-2 lead into the fifth before Luis Basabe brought Birmingham back within one run. The White Sox No. 6 prospect, whom the Barons reinstated off the injured list ahead of Friday's game, sent a run-scoring up the middle to plate
The Generals scored twice more in the bottom half of the fifth to make it a 6-3 game before the game was called after a delay of 1 hour, 16 minutes.

The Barons and Generals will conclude their abbreviated five-game series Sunday afternoon with a doubleheader. First pitch is set for 2:05 p.m. CT at The Ballpark at Jackson and the game will be broadcast via WJQX-FM 100.5.
The games originally scheduled for Monday and Tuesday will not be played as the area prepares for the potential effects of Tropical Storm Barry.
