The Barons stomped on the Trash Pandas 7-3 for their third consecutive win.

Birmingham scored the first two runs of the game in the first inning. Tyler Neslony belted a two-run homer to deep left field over the batting cage. It was his 11th homer of the season.

Rocket City responded with two runs of their own in the third inning. Aaron Whitefield grounded into a fielder’s choice to bring in Kevin Maitan. Anthony Mulrine then scored on a Livan Soto RBI single.

But the Barons stormed back in the bottom of the third inning. With runners on the corners and nobody out, Neslony struck out and Jose Rodriguez broke for second. The throw from the catcher Mulrine went into center field, allowing Rodrigue to slide in safely and D.J. Burt to score from third base. After Craig Dedelow walked, Rodriguez and Dedelow tag-teamed for a double steal to set the table for a two-run single off the bat of Alex Destino. Birmingham wasn’t finished though. Raudy Read smacked his eighth long ball of the season. His solo shot made it a 7-2 Barons lead.

All seven of those runs were charged to Rocket City starter Ky Bush. The Angels’ fourth overall prospect lasted 3.1 IP and allowed a career worst nine hits. Seven runs is also a career worst for the 22-year-old.

Birmingham starter Jason Bilous, on the other hand, shined in 5.0 IP with just two runs to his name. The righty has only allowed three runs over his last 16 innings.

The Trash Pandas inched closer with an eighth inning sacrifice fly off the bat of Livan Soto to make it 7-3.

Tomorrow’s first pitch is set for 6:35 CT. The Barons’ starter is TBA. Meanwhile, Rocket City is going with Coleman Crow (4-2, 3.20)
