The Birmingham Barons (31-35) were able to get the win 3-0 on Thursday night over the Chattanooga Lookouts (36-31) at Regions Field behind a great pitching performance and timely hitting. The Birmingham Barons (31-35) were able to get the win 3-0 on Thursday night over the Chattanooga Lookouts (36-31) at Regions Field behind a great pitching performance and timely hitting.

  • Turning Point: In the bottom of the fourth inning after a Keon Barnum  single, Ryan Brett  was able to hit his third home run of the season, a two-run shot, giving the Barons a 2-0 lead, breaking the scoreless tie.
  • Facts and Figures: Dane Dunning  (W, 5-2) was able to retire the first 12 batters that he faced and record his fifth quality start of the season. He recorded a season and team-high 10 strikeouts and now has 65 strikeouts on the season, which leads all Barons pitchers.
  • He said it: "It's always great to be on the same page as your catcher, I think that went a long way in paving the way for my outing tonight." Dunning said when asked about his connection with catcher Seby Zavala
  • By the Numbers: Dunning pitched 8.0 innings, gave up zero runs, struck out 10, and allowed four hits. He turned in his fifth quality start of the season. Barnum continued his impressive play as he extended his hit streak to six games and notched his third-straight multi-hit game in the process.
  • Quotable: "I hope to keep up my recent success throughout the whole season," Dunning said. "It's always fun to be on the winning end, and I am just going out there and playing baseball."
  • Moments That Mattered: In the bottom of the fifth inning, Zavala advanced Eloy Jiménez , who reached on a double on the previous at bat, while Trey Michalczewski  plated Jimenez with a single to right field as the Barons took a 3-0 lead.
