Eloy Jimenez named White Sox Player of the Month; Michael Kopech named White Sox Pitcher of the Month

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Chicago White Sox announced today that outfielder Eloy Jiménez and pitcher Michael Kopech have been named White Sox Organizational Player and Pitcher of the Month for games being played during the month of August and September. 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The Chicago White Sox announced today that outfielder Eloy Jiménez and pitcher Michael Kopech have been named White Sox Organizational Player and Pitcher of the Month for games being played during the month of August and September. 

Jimenez, 20, joined the Barons on August 15 following his promotion from Class-A Winston-Salem. In 18 games with the Barons following his promotion, Jimenez hit .353, with three home runs and seven RBIs and combined between Winston-Salem and Birmingham in August and September, Jimenez hit .345, with seven home runs and 19 RBIs in 30 games.
The 6-foot-4, 235 pound Jimenez was acquired from the Chicago Cubs via trade on July 13, as part of a package for LHP Jose Quintana. Between three teams this season (Class-A Myrtle Beach, Class-A Winston-Salem and Class-AA Birmingham), Jimenez finished with a .312 average, 19 home runs and 65 RBIs in 89 games, while being named to the Carolina League Midseason and Postseason All-Star teams.
Kopech, 21, combined to go 2-1, with a 1.55 ERA between Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte during the games played in August and September. Kopech, who was acquired from the Boston Red Sox as part of a four-player package for Chris Sale this offseason, was 4-1, with a 0.66 ERA in his last six starts with the Barons.
The No. 1 pitching prospect and No. 12 overall in the MLB, according to MLB Pipeline, left the Southern League on August 18 with his promotion to Triple-A Charlotte amongst the top 10 in many pitching categories. The right-hander is tied for eighth in wins (8), fourth in ERA (2.87), first amongst qualified starters in hits allowed (77), batting average against (.184), strikeouts (155) and strikeouts per nine innings pitched (11.69).
